How to Learn a New Language Effectively

Learn a few greeting words and phrases before you learn the alphabet. Speak, Practice Speaking, Self-study is very important for language learning. Take time to realize what you have learned every day. It helps you to see your progress.

Build Your Vocabulary

  • Learn a few greeting words and phrases before you learn the alphabet.
  • Study the 100 most common words.  After the first 100 words, focus on becoming conversational.
  • Then study the next 100 most common words. Remember Noun words are easy to remember but you need to study verbs also.
  • Verbs are most frequently used, so study them. Words like come, go, eat, drink etc are verbs
  • Start with the high frequency words. Try and find a list of the 500 most common words in your target language and learn these first.
  • When you learn a new word, try to use it a few times right away.
  • Study 30 to 50 noun words on weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday – Its possible.
  • Remember you need to know about 1000 to 2000 words for daily conversation.
    • It is estimated that learning the 1000 most common words in a language will allow you to understand 70% of daily life conversations.
    • If you learn more 1000 words, you can communicate easily
  • You can study 5 Words Per day consistently
  • Remember studying Words is not enough. You have to use the words in daily life as often as you can.
  • Learn a few greeting words before you learn the alphabet.

Speak, Practice Speaking

  • Speak the language from day one, you must speak.
    • Speak with the words you know.
    • Spend time with native speakers as much as possible.
    • You must talk, Conversation, Conversation, and Conversation.
  • Figure out pronunciation patterns. Remember; practice the right pronunciation correctly just at the beginning.

  • Set measurable goals. Achieve them one at a time. For example decide to study 50 words this week, then focus on it.

  • Exercise is very crucial, take a quiz and vocabulary tests. Your mind will get more familiar with the language.
